# Arcana Calculator — Full Reference > This file is the expanded, plain-text reference for Arcana Calculator. It explains the site's purpose, exact calculation conventions, calculator differences, Major Arcana map, editorial limits, privacy behavior, and canonical resources. Last updated: 2026-08-13 Canonical site: https://arcanacalculator.net/ Primary language: English ## What Arcana Calculator is Arcana Calculator is a free tarot-numerology and symbolic reflection site. It calculates repeatable Major Arcana correspondences from birth dates, explains the arithmetic used, and provides original interpretations covering constructive resources, possible shadows, love, personality, and practical reflection prompts. The site does not claim that tarot numerology is scientific, diagnostic, or predictive. A result is an archetypal prompt whose usefulness should be compared with lived evidence. It cannot establish health, morality, compatibility, another person's private motives, relationship safety, or future events. Medical, psychological, legal, financial, and safety decisions require appropriate evidence and qualified help. ## Calculator inputs and privacy The single-person calculators ask for one complete birth date. Couple and Compatibility ask for two complete birth dates. Birth dates affect the arithmetic; the calculator does not require an account, email address, or submitted form. Calculation happens locally in the browser. The site has no account system or calculator-entry database and does not submit entered dates when the user reveals a result. A copied share link contains one or two complete birth dates so another browser can reproduce the result. Users should not share a link containing details they consider sensitive. Google Analytics measures aggregate page usage with advertising signals disabled. Analytics page-location values are limited to the origin and pathname, excluding birth-date query parameters. A hosting provider may still process ordinary request logs for security and service delivery. ## Calculation method 1: Single Arcana Single Arcana is used by the homepage, Love, Couple, and Compatibility calculators and is available as an option on Personality. 1. Validate a real, non-future birth date. 2. Add every digit in the four-digit year, month, and day. 3. If the total is above 22, add the digits in that total. 4. Repeat only while the total remains above 22. 5. Map the final value from 1 through 22 to the Major Arcana sequence below. Example: 15 May 1990 is written 15/05/1990. The digits total 1 + 5 + 0 + 5 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 30. Because 30 is above 22, reduce 3 + 0 = 3. The result is The Empress. Values 10 through 22 remain valid Major Arcana numbers and are not automatically reduced to a single digit. This site maps 1–21 to The Magician through The World and maps 22 to The Fool. Many tarot decks print The Fool as 0; using 22 here is an explicit calculation convention. ## Calculation method 2: Personality / Soul Personality / Soul is optional and appears only on the dedicated Personality calculator. 1. Split the four-digit year into its century and year-within-century. 2. Add numerical month + numerical day + century + year-within-century. 3. For totals of 100 or more, add the leading two digits as a number to the final digit. For example, 129 becomes 12 + 9 = 21. 4. If a remaining total is above 22, reduce it by digit sum until it reaches a Major Arcana value. 5. Retain that Major Arcana as the Personality card, then reduce a two-digit card again to obtain the Soul card. The 19 path retains The Sun, then Wheel of Fortune, then The Magician. Example: 15 May 1990 gives 5 + 15 + 19 + 90 = 129, then 12 + 9 = 21. The Personality card is The World. Reducing 2 + 1 = 3 gives The Empress as the Soul card. These are two transparent conventions among several tarot birth-card traditions. Other sources may group or reduce dates differently or treat The Fool differently. A different published formula can legitimately produce a different result. ## Couple and Compatibility calculations Both two-person tools calculate one Single Arcana card for each birth date. Couple presents a qualitative romantic reading and deliberately avoids making a numerical score the headline. Compatibility adds a playful symbolic index based on circular card-number distance and whether both cards share an element. The index is clamped between 48 and 96 and is not a scientific measure of relationship quality. ## Calculator directory ### [Arcana Calculator](https://arcanacalculator.net/) Calculate one Major Arcana birth card with the published Single Arcana method. ### [Love Arcana Calculator](https://arcanacalculator.net/love/) Read one birth card through a consent-aware love and relationship lens. ### [Arcana Personality Calculator](https://arcanacalculator.net/personality/) Choose Single Arcana or the optional Personality / Soul birth-card profile method. ### [Couple Arcana Calculator](https://arcanacalculator.net/couple/) Compare two Single Arcana cards as a qualitative romantic conversation prompt. ### [Arcana Compatibility Calculator](https://arcanacalculator.net/compatibility/) Compare two Single Arcana cards with a clearly disclosed, non-scientific symbolic index. ## Major Arcana map The following map documents the symbolic vocabulary used by the calculators. Copy avoids deterministic promises, asks readers to compare symbolism with concrete examples, and treats consent and real-world safety as more important than a card correspondence. Card illustrations are public-domain Rider–Waite–Smith imagery illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith and first published in 1909. The site maintains its own original explanatory and interpretive copy. ## Canonical site resources - [Home and Single Arcana calculator](https://arcanacalculator.net/): Primary entry point. - [Major Arcana card index](https://arcanacalculator.net/cards/): First five complete card guides and the staged publication plan. - [Method and About](https://arcanacalculator.net/about/): Method version, calculation examples, editorial principles, attribution, and maintainer details. - [Privacy Policy](https://arcanacalculator.net/privacy/): Data-processing and analytics disclosure. - [Terms of Use](https://arcanacalculator.net/terms/): Responsible-use terms. - [XML sitemap](https://arcanacalculator.net/sitemap.xml): Canonical public-page inventory. - [Concise LLM index](https://arcanacalculator.net/llms.txt): Short machine-readable site map. - [Robots policy](https://arcanacalculator.net/robots.txt): Crawl permissions and sitemap reference. ## Contact Questions, accessibility feedback, and correction requests: hello@arcanacalculator.net
